This was an interesting job for our stable customer from a music school in Hořice. For their Christmas shows, we were supposed to make a concert bass drum with a mobile stand. We wanted the instrument to look really impressive and we utilized our classical “Hallvad wooden drum” look finished with high-gloss PU varnish. The 22”x16” shell is made of six plies of beech, one mahogany ply and one ply of indian appletree veneer (also known as tineo) on the outer side. Ten tuning screws on each side are held by multi-ply hoops made of oak, mahogany, beech and tineo. There are Remo Fiberskyn Ambassador heads on both sides. For better reactions of the drum we used a bigger air vent, which is 45 mm wide. The stand is made of ash wood, finished with matt PU varnish and allows the player to set the height and tilt of the drum as well. It is equipped with wheels, so that it can be moved around easily.
